Description
El Noi de la Mare (The Mother’s Son) is a tender Catalan lullaby which probably originates from the 16th century. It is essentially a Christmas folk song which asks what to give to Mary’s newborn son, Jesus, suggesting dates, figs, nuts, olives, honey and cheese.
This beautiful carol was made internationally famous by the great Spanish guitarist, arranger and composer Miguel Llobet (1878-1938) and has ever since been a favourite encore piece for many guitarists including Andrés Segovia and John Williams.
