Description

Elgar’s last orchestral piece is an endearing musical portrait of his beloved cairn terrier, Mina.  Elgar evidently doted on his dogs – and, rather eccentrically, he used to dress Mina up in goggles, a veil and pearls whilst out driving because he thought it made her look like a Duchess!  Lady Elgar most certainly did not approve …

Elgar was able to listen to a recording of Mina just days before he died, with his beloved Mina by his side.  It is a beautiful and utterly enchanting miniature that deserves to be much better known.
