I am delighted to publish a wonderful bassoon quartet arrangement by bassoonist Gillian Horn of Bartok’s Romanian Dances.
There are six diverse and colourful dances in the set: Jo cu bâta (Stick Dance), Brâul (Sash Dance), Pe Loc (Standing Still), Buciumeana (Dance from Bucsum), Poarga Româneasca (Romanian Polka), and Maruntel (Fast Dance). Gillian’s arrangement brings out each dance’s unique character wonderfully well – a lovely collection for bassoon quartet.
NEW: Saint-Saens’ The Elephant from The Carnival of the Animals for bassoon quartet. This music depicting the cumbersome, yet graceful pachyderm was an obvious contender for this grouping!
NEW: The beautiful and supremely stately Sarabande from Handel’s Suite in D Minor HWV437 in arrangements for wind quintet, wind quartet and bassoon quartet.
